Meet Allison Smith
Hi, my name is Allison. I thank you for visiting my website. A little about me…I have a 15-year-old daughter who is the light of my life. I grew up in Santa Cruz, CA. but have lived in the Northwest since 1990. I have been an Early Childhood Specialist in a variety of different capacities for 20+ years. I am a mature, reliable, dedicated child care provider with a wealth of experience and knowledge of child growth and development. I have a passion for my work and love the opportunity to watch children grow and learn through active participation in the world around them. I have a natural ability to put children at ease with sincere respect for their competence. I admire the honest and persistent nature of children. Fostering childrens’ self confidence and resilience in the world has been my life's ambition. I have devoted my life to enriching the lives of children and their families. I am a life-long learner and am always looking for new opportunities to further my education and expertise in the latest research in Early Childhood Education. I currently hold a child development associate certification. I have infant/child CPR and First Aid training.
Meet Edie Hope
My name is Edie Hope and I have been working with children and their families professionally since 1989. I spent twelve years working as an early childhood educator in various programs before settling into being a teacher and home educator for the Whatcom County Head Start program. I eventually became a center supervisor at Alderwood Early Childhood Center before returning to school to earn my teaching certificate in Special Education. I spent seven years teaching students with a variety of disabilities in the Mount Vernon School District, and retired at the end of last year. I did all of this while raising two daughters who are now kind, beautiful grown up women. I am also the proud grandma of Sam, age six and Danny, age two, with whom I spend as much time as possible. I am blessed at this time in my life to be able to walk the path that brings me my greatest joy- that of providing loving care and guidance to children, and helping parents who are working hard to keep their ships afloat in these fast paced and often trying times. Allison and I began our relationship as colleagues 21 years ago. We have worked together off and on over the years, and have become close friends due to our shared philosophies about what is best for our world, our children and our selves. I am thrilled that we will be working as partners on a consistent continuing basis. I look forward to working with you to make sure your children develop at their own pace in an atmosphere of loving kindness. There is nothing in the world more important than that.
